Follow these steps for efficient and easy surveying:
-
If the instrument has not been recently
used, then the power level in the PDA
battery and instrument battery should be
checked. Ideally the night before surveying,
turn on the system and check the battery
power levels. Re-charge the batteries if
required.
see: Checking the battery
power levels
see: Re-charge the batteries
-
Assemble the survey train, common survey
train configurations are shown as follows;

Do Not
Use Pipe Wrenches on the Instrument, and make
sure the arrow on the instrument will point
into the hole (away from the lowering cable
or rods). |
-
Make sure all survey train connections are
tight and check the instrument battery
compartment to make sure it has not come
loose by ensuring the lines on the outside
of the instrument (look for the X near one
end) are aligned as follows:

DO NOT TRY TO OPEN THE BATTERY
COMPARTMENT
(

Replacing the Batteries)

If using the wireless connection method,
insert the small e-SYNC port driver into the
side hole of the large e-SYNC port driver
(this allows for extra leverage) and then
make sure the data port plug is
FIRMLY installed in the data port (item
B in Figure 1) |
-
Attach the survey train to the overshot,
lowering cable or rods as required for your
application.
-
Turn on the system.
see: Turning the System On and Off
-
Follow the instructions on the PDA to
perform the survey and save the results.

-
When finished surveying, turn off the PDA
and instrument.
-
Clean and disassemble the survey train.

Place the clean and dry survey train
components, the instrument and the PDA into
the protective cases for future use.
