The e-SYNC with Accessories

The diagram above illustrates the e-SYNC and the structure of its accessories (application hardware).

  • Rod Adapter (A), Cable Swivel (B) or Spearhead (C) attach to the top of the Quik-Connect receptor (Y).

  • A Quik-Connect receptor (Y) is also attached to the bottom of the e-SYNC.

  • Quik-Connect bayonets (X) are attached to the top of the e-SYNC, Impact Foot Assembly (E), Overshot (F) or Clay Impression Dropper (G).

  • For accuracy in holes larger than 36mm or 1.4" Centralizers (D) are used.

The use of the Pajari Quik-Connect coupling allows for the "quick" change-over between different applications in a matter of  seconds.

The length of the e-SYNC with couplings attached is 85mm or 33.5 ins. The outside diameter (OD) of both the e-SYNC and Quik-Connect couplings is 36mm or 1.4 ins.  Centralizers are required for larger diameter holes and are placed as shown in the above diagram. Position 1 for rod lowering and wireline surveying, and at both positions 1 and 2 for cable lowering and open hole surveying.

Please choose the e-SYNC Application(s) you require.

Wireline An inclination survey the same time as you retrieve your core. (Used with Overshot)
Core Orientation An inclination and tool-facing survey to determine the orientation of the core while it is still in the ground.
Open Hole Surveys An inclination and tool-facing survey inside cased or uncased holes when the drill is no longer present.

Survey Direction(s)?

Up-hole   Down-hole   Horizontal

Hole Length?

 meters   feet

Is the hole filled with water?

yes   no

Wireline Surveying and Clay Impression Core Orientation
Using the "Wireline" surveying method, the e-SYNC becomes part of your overshot which allows you to take a survey inside the steel drill rods, the same time as you retrieve your core.

For Clay Impression Core Orientation, the e-SYNC is attached to the clay dropper, sent down the hole, and then retrieved with your overshot. In steep holes from vertical to -45º the clay dropper has enough "weight" to travel to the drill bit unassisted.

If the angle of your survey is between -30º and -45º it may be necessary to add a roller section or additional "weight" to assist with the lowering to the drill bit. A cable swivel set-up or rod insertion method can also be used to lower/insert the clay dropper.

Core Size(s)?

AQ   BQ   NQ  HQ   PQ     Other

Please note: Centralizers are required for core sizes BQ and larger.

Open Hole Surveying
Holes drilled with conventional (non-wireline) core barrels, non-coring rotary, percussion, cable-tool or reversed circulation equipment must be surveyed "open hole". The survey train can be placed at the survey depth by DRILL ROD in any borehole or by CABLE in holes that are steeper than -45º. The use of a roller section will increase this angle to -30º.

Actual Open Hole Diameter? (to determine proper size of centralizers)

 mm   inches

Is the hole you will be surveying "cased"?

Yes   No

If Yes, what is the inside diameter (ID) of the "casing"? (to determine proper size of centralizers)

 mm   inches

If Yes, with what material?

Steel   Plastic   Other

Please note: Steel casing tends to have a uniform inside diameter (ID), plastic casing can sometimes vary in thickness.
